Stone's Throw Pottery, Globe Court, Stone, ST15 8JG
Stone’s Throw Pottery offers throwing taster classes and beginners courses in both throwing and hand building. It runs a Membership programme and drop-in sessions are available for those people who want to develop their skills and work on their own projects.
The studio has 6 wheels, a large hand building table and a glazing room. There is a slab roller, extruder and a kiln in which stoneware is fired. There is also a display area whereby you can purchase Kaye’s pottery – functional kitchen/tableware.
Stone’s Throw Pottery is positioned in a beautiful building, situated just behind Stone High Street on Newcastle Street. It includes a private courtyard in which members and visitors are free to take time out and chat with fellow potters.
Based in Stone, Staffordshire, Stone’s Throw Pottery is a teaching and members pottery studio; founded by Kaye Lavender.
After three decades of living and working in London for a leading animation Studio, Kaye decided to return to her home town of Stone to establish a pottery studio. Whilst a member and part-time technician at Urban Potter in Camberwell, Kaye acquired the skills and vision necessary to launch her own creative venture, under the expert guidance of Adrian Gonzalez; founder of Urban Potters.
Discovering a disused Coopers Building just behind Stone High Street, Kaye dedicated six months to transforming the space. Now a vibrant, fully-equipped professional studio, Stone’s Throw Pottery is a welcoming space, designed for leaning. socialising and developing your pottery skills.
The Studio embraces all skill levels; warmly introducing beginners to the wonders of clay, whether throwing on the wheel or in hand-building techniques. From a taster session to a more in depth course, the bright, friendly environment offers many creative possibilities.
In addition to regular classes the studio hosts specialists workshops. The inaugural event last summer featured a successful slip-trailer master class led by local ceramist Mark Dally.
Stone’s Throw Pottery is open most days to members. If you would like to see the studio or discuss taster classes, courses or are interested in buying Kaye’s work, please feel free to get in touch.
