About Stone's Throw Pottery

Based in Stone Staffordshire, Stone’s Throw Pottery is a new teaching & members pottery studio founded by Kaye Lavender. Having made the decision to return to her home town after almost 3 decades in South East London, working for a leading animation studio, Kaye wanted to enable a life whereby she could  spend her time creating with clay; her passion outside of work.

During her last few years in London, Kaye was a member and part-time technician for Urban Potters in Camberwell. During this time, under the guidance of UP’s founder, Adrian Gonzalez, Kaye learned the skills necessary to set up her own pottery studio. Having discovered an old Coopers building just behind Stone High Street, she then spent 6 months transforming the space and kitting it out with professional-grade equipment, resulting in a vibrant, creative pottery hub.

The studio is a welcoming space in which people can learn, socialise and develop their pottery skills. People at all skill levels are welcome and Kaye hopes to introduce clay to beginners; both in throwing on the wheel or in hand building. Whether you are joining a throwing taster session or signing up for a course, the studio offers a friendly, bright space in which to learn and discover the wonderful creative possibilities clay offers.

In addition to regular classes and courses, specialist workshop events will take place throughout the year. The first of which was over this summer, taken by local Potter and Ceramicist Mark Dally, running a slip trailer master class.

Stone’s Throw Pottery is open most days to members where Kaye can be found developing her own work. Please feel free to contact Kaye if you would like to view the Studio or would like to buy some of her pots.
